Spiritual Companioning
(also referred to as Spiritual Direction)
Yes, my soul, find rest in God;
my hope comes from him...
pour out your hearts to him,
for God is our refuge.
Psalm 62:5,8
Christian Spiritual Companioning is...
The practice whereby one person helps another to pay attention to God—to God’s presence, voice, and sanctifying work in his or her life. It is the shared noticing of Jesus, revealed in Scripture and the daily events of a walk and a meal, attended to in feelings of disappointment and hope, of joy and burning hearts.

My journey to this ministry...

Then you will call upon Me
and go and pray to Me,
and I will listen to you.
And you will seek Me
and find Me,
when you search for Me
with all your heart.
I will be found by you,
says the Lord…
Jeremiah 29:12-14a
Growing up in a Bible teaching church, I had the privilege to come to faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and be baptized at an early age. In high school and college, my desire to follow Jesus wholeheartedly grew and led to a call to serve Him cross-culturally and "make disciples of all nations".
After 27 years of ministry alongside my husband, Steve Meeker, in Croatia and raising four boys - each of these a wonderful calling and privilege - I was spiritually dry and having to make the painful transition back “home” to California to care for my mom. God led me to begin meeting with a Christian Spiritual Companion and I found my heart at home. This was a graced space I could bring my whole self to God – grief, transition, dreaming, desiring greater intimacy with Him - with the loving listening of another believer trained to ask questions and help me be attentive to God and my own heart. In God’s perfect timing, he called me to begin training for this kind of ministry.
I am a recent graduate of Selah's two-year program (through Leadership Transformation, Inc.) which is Biblical, contemplative and Trinitarian. If you would like to arrange a meeting to see if spiritual companioning meets your needs, please use the Interest Form button below and I will contact you via email.
There is also some helpful information below in the FAQs for those who are unfamiliar with this ministry of listening and prayer.
With Joy in serving God's Beloved,

What is Spiritual Companioning (or Direction)?Christian Spiritual Companioning—sometimes called Spiritual Direction—is a sacred practice where one person gently helps another notice God’s presence, voice, and transforming work in their life. It’s a confidential, grace-filled space to explore your relationship with God while being lovingly listened to by someone who’s there simply to be present with you. There’s no pressure to solve problems or set goals—only a quiet openness to whatever the Holy Spirit wants to bring into the moment. In this space, you may begin to notice God’s love, truth, or gentle nudges in ways that might have gone unseen in the busyness of life. It’s about slowing down, paying attention, and discovering that God has been with you all along—speaking, guiding, and inviting you deeper.

What is the difference between spiritual companioning, mentoring, and counseling? Many ministries within Christian communities are here to help us live out our life in Christ with love and obedience. Each one offers something unique—but all are rooted in a desire to walk alongside others as they grow in faith. Mentoring is when a more seasoned believer shares their wisdom and experience to encourage growth. It’s practical, relational, and grounded in the everyday challenges and joys of following Jesus. Counseling helps people find healing from past wounds and develop healthy, life-giving ways to move forward. It’s about restoration, hope, and new beginnings. Christian Spiritual Companioning— traditionally called Spiritual Direction—is a sacred space where we pause together to notice God’s presence. Through silent prayer, deep listening (one ear to God, one to the person), and gentle reflection, we become more aware of how God is speaking, leading, and moving in our lives. This awareness often leads to deeper trust, obedience, and transformation. Though each of these paths is different, they all have some key things in common when rooted in Christ: they involve walking alongside someone else, depending on the Holy Spirit, encouraging growth, staying grounded in Scripture, pointing people to Jesus, and requiring commitment from both people involved. Where they differ is in their focus: Mentoring is more active, teaching-oriented, and centered on practice—though it certainly speaks to the heart as well. Counseling and Spiritual Companioning are more reflective, offering space for listening and reflection. Spiritual Companioning, in particular, is contemplative and prayerful—inviting us to slow down and be with, listen to and respond to God.

What does Spiritual Companioning Cost?We understand that people around the world face different financial realities, and we want to honor that in how we offer our ministries. That’s why we’ve embraced a “Pay it Forward” approach—something we truly believe God has placed on our hearts. If you’re in a position to give, your donation—no matter the amount—helps make it possible for someone else to receive these services. And if you’re not able to give right now, please know that someone has already paid it forward for you. You’re welcome here, just as you are. This same spirit applies to our Spiritual Companioning. It’s a joy for us to offer it this way, and a blessing to trust the Lord to provide. He always does!

Who can receive Spiritual Companioning with you?Currently, Jenny only meets with women in ministry with Scripture Union. In the future, we hope to have others who can meet with men in ministry as well.
